The Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act (S. 612) Act builds upon the reforms of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2014. WIIN supports our nation’s economic competitiveness by deepening nationally significant ports, providing protection from disastrous flood waters, and restoring valuable ecosystems by Congressionally authorizing 30 new projects and modifying 8 existing projects based on reports submitted to Congress by the Secretary of the Army. The WIIN Act promotes both public and private investment in the nation’s critical water resources and drinking water infrastructure. It also addresses significant tribal and natural resources issues. Finally, the WIIN Act expands the exemption from the SPCC rule for farms; allows state permitting under EPA’s coal ash regulations; and requires payment by EPA of costs incurred by States, local governments and tribes to respond to the Gold King Mine Spill.
