U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), top Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee, made the following statement regarding Budget resolution amendment votes on Keystone XL Pipeline and a Carbon Tax:

"Tonight the Senate has reaffirmed its bipartisan support of the Keystone XL pipeline, while resoundingly shutting down the idea of a carbon tax," said Vitter. "Regardless of the far-left political ideology that seemingly powers the Obama administration's rule-making, the American people, and today the U.S. Senate, continue to choose jobs and improving the economy over a left-wing agenda set to reduce the standard of living for all Americans."

Earlier today, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) offered a carbon tax amendment, which lost 41 to 58 votes. 62 Senators, including 17 Democrats, voted in favor of Sen. John Hoeven's (R-N.D.) amendment to approve the proposed Keystone XL oilsands pipeline.
