“I commend GAO for a very thorough report with succinct conclusions on areas within EPA’s grants management process that are broken and need to be fixed,” Senator Inhofe said. “It is clear that EPA is still not consistently providing the public with full and accurate information on grant opportunities listed in the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance – one of the areas I highlighted in our Committee’s grants oversight hearing in March of last year. Some progress is being made by EPA which is good news but continued work must be done so that the grant process at EPA can become what it needs to be -- transparent, accountable, and fair.”
The Environment & Public Works Committee held an oversight hearing on EPA grants management on March 3, 2004 and Inhofe intends to hold additional hearings in the 109th Congress. A committee white paper on the subject can be found at: https://www.epw.senate.gov/majwelcome.cfm?party=rep.
