Inhofe Accepts Nader's Challenge to Debate Rep. Markey on Global Warming

Washington, D.C. - Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today accepted Ralph Nader's invitation to debate Congressman Markey on global warming.

"I would welcome the opportunity to debate the issue of global warming with Congressman Markey," Senator Inhofe said.  "In fact, I would enjoy the company: since the failure of global warming alarmism and the complete collapse of the Kyoto process, the only one talking about global warming in Washington these days has been me.

"I expect that, true to form, Representative Markey will want to focus on the so-called 'problem,' while trying to ignore the fact that their 'solutions' - whether they be the Kyoto treaty, cap-and-trade, or regulations by the EPA - will just destroy our already ailing economy while having no impact on the climate.  The American people understand this.  We handily won the debate on cap-and-trade and now we are fighting to end President Obama's plan to achieve through EPA regulations what he could not achieve through legislation.  This debate with Representative Markey will be yet another opportunity to shine the light on the President's destructive global warming agenda."
