Washington, D.C. -- Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, today applauded Deirdre Imus, a Fox News commentator, for her clear and pointed opposition to S. 697, the Udall-Vitter toxic chemical bill.

Senator Boxer said: "I agree one hundred percent with Mrs. Imus when she says ‘For those of us who have been screaming at the top of our lungs for someone, anyone to listen about the dangers chemicals pose to human health, this proposed law feels like a punch in the gut. It is one thing to maintain the status quo of an inefficient law that allows carcinogens to perpetuate in our midst; it is quite another to pretend a new law offers any significant resolutions.'"

Senator Boxer continued: "Mrs. Imus and I may not agree on every issue, but on helping children avoid cancer, we think alike. This message from a commentator on a conservative network should open everyone's eyes."
