WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), top Democrat on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, released the following statement after a number of state Attorneys General informed the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals they will continue to defend the Clean Power Plan in court after the Trump Administration asked for a pause in court deliberations to rewrite or abandon the plan.

“In Delaware, we can’t simply hit pause on climate change. As the lowest lying state in the country, our local leaders, communities and businesses are already taking steps to insulate ourselves despite President Trump’s refusal to acknowledge reality. I applaud the states committed to supporting the Clean Power Plan to reduce the most potent greenhouse gas and protect our shared planet. I’m especially proud of Delaware’s Attorney General, Matt Denn, for his leadership in continuing to fight for Delawareans who stand to lose so much if we fail to act on the growing threat of climate change.”
