Inhofe Statement on NRC’S McGaffigan’s Death
WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Environment & Public Works Committee, today commented on the death of Edward McGaffigan Jr., the longest serving member of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of Commissioner Ed McGaffigan,” said Senator Inhofe. “Ed truly embodied the best possible qualities as a Commissioner, a leader, and a human being. He dedicated 31 years of his life to public service. That contribution has been invaluable to our country and is a testament to his ideals. Ed and I shared a common goal to transform the Commission into a more effective and disciplined agency. I have the greatest respect for his tenacious efforts. The results are a remarkable and an admirable legacy. My prayers and sincerest sympathy are with his family and friends.”
