Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today made the following statement regarding today's announcement that former Vice President Al Gore has been selected to receive the Nobel Peace Prize:
Senator Boxer said: "This Nobel Peace Prize is such a personal triumph for Al Gore. But more than that, it is yet another strong call to action for all of us who have the ability to save the planet from the ravages of global warming. Al Gore and I were at an event together last night and he spoke so eloquently about the need to work together across party lines to confront the challenge of global warming. That is what I intend to do."
