Washington, DC - Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW), expressed her satisfaction that members of her EPW Committee called the state preemption in S. 1009 "a non-starter" in TSCA reform.

Senator Boxer said: "The states have the right to protect their children and families from toxic chemicals. California is a true leader and any TSCA reform that punishes the states is not going anywhere. I look forward to addressing this and other problems with S. 1009 so we can vote out a strong bill."

"A shocking message from our hearing so far: advocates for our families say ‘S. 1009 is worse than current law.' This means we have a lot of work to do and I am ready to do it."
