Inhofe Statement on the Conferees Named to the Transportation Reauthorization Bill
WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, released the following statement after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announced the Senate Republicans appointed to participate in the conference committee that will negotiation the final long-term surface transportation bill:
“The Members serving on this conference committee have a strong record of recognizing Congress' constitutional responsibility to maintain and advance our nation’s surface transportation infrastructure. I look forward to working together in a bipartisan fashion to send a long-term transportation reauthorization bill to the president’s desk by Thanksgiving. With this historic piece of legislation, Congress can end a wasteful cycle of short-term extensions and help to put America back on the map as the best place to do business. ”
