WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), released the following statement praising President Trump’s announcement that he intends to nominate Rob Wallace to be assistant secretary for Fish, Wildlife and Parks at the Department of the Interior.
“I applaud President Trump’s intent to nominate Rob Wallace to be assistant secretary for Fish, Wildlife and Parks at the Department of the Interior,” said Barrasso. “Without question, Rob is the right person for this job. Throughout his long and distinguished career, Rob has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to striking the proper balance between wildlife conservation, habitat management, and use of our public lands. His experience and leadership in Wyoming and in our nation’s capital are ideally suited for this critically important job. I look forward to holding a hearing on Rob’s nomination and confirming him quickly.”
Wallace currently serves as president of the Upper Green River Conservancy, the nation’s first co-op conservation bank which he co-founded to protect core sage grouse habitat in the ecologically and energy rich Upper Green River watershed in southwest Wyoming.
Wallace is a founding member of the board of the Grand Teton National Park Foundation, a private, nonprofit organization that funds projects that enhance, promote, and protect Grand Teton National Park’s cultural, historic, and natural resources. He is a member of the board of the Jackson Hole Land Trust, which works to protect open spaces, wildlife habitat, working lands, and community spaces across northwest Wyoming. He is a member of the University of Wyoming’s Energy Resources Council, which sets priorities for energy-related academics, research, and outreach. He also serves and has served on numerous other boards.
Wallace previously was a ranger in Grand Teton National Park and assistant director of the National Park Service, staff director of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, chief of staff for then-U.S. Senator Malcolm Wallop from Wyoming, and chief of staff for then-Wyoming Governor Jim Geringer. He also managed U.S. government relations for GE Energy for 17 years.
