Next week (April 16-20, 2007) the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will hold a briefing on the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and a full committee hearing on the Administration’s nomination to head the Army Corps of Engineers. Senator Barbara Boxer, Chairman of the EPW Committee, will also give a speech on global warming at the National Press Club in Washington, DC on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 2:30pm ET, the Environment and Public Works Committee will hold a briefing for Senators and staff on the IPCC report “Climate Change Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability,” released on April 6, which outlines the likely worldwide impacts of global warming. The briefing is open to the public and the press. The IPCC scientists will give brief statements and will answer questions from Senators. Location:

Also on Wednesday, April 18, at 2:30 p.m. EDT, the full Committee will convene a hearing on the nomination of Lieutenant General Robert L. Van Antwerp, Jr. to be Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Location:
