WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today joined President Biden at the White House as he signed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 into law. Carper led passage of the bipartisan legislation in the Senate earlier this year, which incorporated Carper’s Surface Transportation Reauthorization Act of 2021 and his Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act of 2021.
Nine months ago, President Biden hosted Carper in the Oval Office for his first meeting with lawmakers on infrastructure legislation. President Biden and Carper discussed the need for the Environment and Public Works Committee to lead the way on sweeping infrastructure legislation through bipartisan bills on drinking water and wastewater infrastructure and a surface transportation reauthorization to modernize our nation’s highways, roads, and bridges.
