Washington, DC - Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), released the following statement after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it is adopting strong ethical standards and other protections for pesticide testing studies that are submitted to the agency.

Senator Boxer said: "I am pleased that EPA has taken a major step forward in adopting strong ethical and scientific safeguards required for pesticide studies, including the adoption of key recommendations by the National Academy of Sciences. Today's action will allow critical public health and environmental standards to be developed, while also protecting our most vulnerable, including pregnant women, infants, and children."
