Statement of Senator Jim Jeffords, I-Vt.
Ranking Member, Senate Environment and Public Works Committee
On Nomination of William Wehrum as EPA Assistant Administrator "The President will nominate William Wehrum today to be the EPA's Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation. This job is critical to protecting our nation’s public health from the adverse effects of air pollution. Unfortunately, the Bush Administration's five-year record in this area falls woefully short of the mark. Mr. Wehrum has a long history of involvement in clean air issues, both inside and outside the Administration. I look forward to examining his record and qualifications during the upcoming nomination process."
