Washington, D.C. - Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, issued the following statement after the Senate voted 83 to 14 to pass the Water Resources Development Act of 2013 (WRDA).

Senator Boxer said: "I am gratified by the overwhelming vote on final passage of our WRDA bill. Getting 83 votes in favor when bipartisanship is missing in the Senate is very important. Now is the time for the House to act so we can ensure that the benefits of the bill are realized."

Senator Boxer and Senator David Vitter (R-LA) worked together with their Senate colleagues to develop WRDA 2013, which provides critical flood protection for communities across the country, maintains navigation routes and the flow of commerce, provides ecosystem restoration, and will sustain up to 500,000 new jobs.
