Symons currently serves as the Senior Vice President for Conservation and Education at the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), the largest conservation organization in the U.S. Previously, he was Executive Director of NWF's Climate Change Campaign, held positions in the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Air and Radiation, and served in Senator Ron Wyden's office as a Senate Fellow.

Symons earned a Master's degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University in 1996 and received his B.A. in Environmental Studies from Brown University in 1992.
