The Honorable David Vitter
Ranking Member
Environment and Public Works Committee
456 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington DC 20510
Dear Senator Vitter:
A business meeting of the Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) to consider Gina McCarthy's nomination to be Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been rescheduled for May 16 at 12:00 p.m. Unfortunately, the May 9 business meeting on this important nomination was boycotted by the EPW Minority members.
Gina is a highly qualified nominee. She has a demonstrated record of working with Republicans and Democrats, including four Republican Governors and a Democratic President. She has received support from businesses, health officials, environmental organizations, and scientists. We need her strong, bipartisan, common-sense approach to lead the EPA.
As of the date of the upcoming business meeting, this nomination will have been delayed at your request for four weeks. It is time to move forward with her nomination. I hope you will attend.
Sincerely,
Barbara Boxer
Chairman
Environment and Public Works Committee
CC: EPW Committee Minority Members
