Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) has formally initiated the process of joining the State of California's lawsuit to overturn the Bush Administration's denial of California's waiver to address global warming pollution from motor vehicles.
Senator Boxer, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, said: "The Bush EPA's denial of California's request for a waiver was not supported by the science or the law, and it must be overturned. I will continue to use every tool I have to reverse the Bush Administration's outrageous decision so that California and the other states can continue the fight against global warming."
Senator Boxer was joined by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA 8) in formally requesting that the court's grant them amicus status in the case. The brief itself will be filed at the appropriate time once the docketing schedule for the case has been established.
