Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today released the following statement regarding a meeting with President Obama and a bipartisan group of Senators at the White House on clean energy and climate change legislation:

Senator Boxer said, "The meeting at the White House with a bipartisan group of Senators was extremely productive and gives me great hope that we can get started on a clean energy policy that will free us from our dependence on foreign oil and create millions of jobs right here in America. Although these Senators have come from different regions and different political parties, it is clear that there is broad agreement that energy efficiency and clean energy technologies are crucial to our leadership in the world and to job creation here at home. The tone at the meeting was warm, positive, and collegial, and I look forward to continuing to work with the White House and my colleagues as we continue to seek specific agreements on specific issues."
