Washington, DC - Today, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, released the following statement regarding the Obama administration's announcement that President Obama will attend the international negotiations in Copenhagen next month, and that the President is proposing an emissions reduction target for the United States in the range of 17 percent below 2005 levels in 2020.

Senator Boxer said: "I am so pleased that the President is going to Copenhagen to address one of the most pressing issues of our time - global warming. The goal he announced today, in the range of 17 percent, reflects the work that was done in the House of Representatives and in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. It is realistic, it's smart, and it's credible."
