Washington, DC - Chairman Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Ranking Member James Inhofe (R-OK) are pleased to announce the membership of the Environment and Public Works subcommittees for the 112th Congress:

Senator Boxer said. "This is a great start to the 112th Congress. I am pleased to announce the subcommittees for the Environment and Public Works Committee today. I am so proud of the important work that this Committee does - from protecting the environment and the public health of our children, to rebuilding and investing in our nation's infrastructure. This Committee has a long history of accomplishments and working together across party lines. Just last year, several of our bipartisan accomplishments were signed into law, including measures to help eliminate lead in our drinking water and reduce dangerous air pollution.

"I look forward to continuing to work together as we move forward with our agenda for the 112th Congress, which includes a new transportation bill that creates jobs, a new Water Resources Development Act to address crucial flood control needs and other water projects, and taking steps to ensure our children and families are safe from dangerous toxins in the environment."

Senator Inhofe said: "I am pleased to welcome several new members to the EPW Committee. With jurisdiction over federal agencies covering environment, energy and transportation, our committee will play a key role in shaping policies that impact environmental protection, energy production, and our nation's infrastructure.

"With that in mind, there are many issues of national significance before this committee. I am hopeful that we can address these issues together. Consider that the EPW Committee, both Democrat and Republican members, helped pass several significant pieces of environmental legislation into law late last year. By working across the aisle, we passed legislation to strengthen protection for drinking water and reduce air pollution. We were also able to pass legislation to eliminate unfunded mandates on local communities. This is a model that I hope we can follow over the next two years."
