Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today made the following remarks regarding a memo from the House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee that found evidence of White House influence in the Environmental Protection Agency's denial of California's request for a waiver to address global warming pollution from vehicles:

Senator Boxer said: "Clearly the Bush Administration at the highest levels killed the California waiver. The people of California and the other states have a right to know how this indefensible decision happened, and we demand that EPA and the Bush White House turn over the documents we have asked for immediately."
