Inhofe Outraged Congress Fails to Act To Protect 17,000 American Jobs
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, tonight said that Congressional inaction to resolve a highway rescission means that 1,350 Oklahoma jobs and 17,000 nationally are now in doubt.
"Because of Congressional inaction, 17,000 American jobs are at stake tonight, 1,350 in my home state of Oklahoma." Senator Inhofe said. "Through my leadership position on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, I have been working to provide a fix for the rescission for months. As the deadline became closer and closer, I did everything I could to provide a reasonable solution. There is plenty of blame to go around tonight, but the focus should be on the fact that Congress failed, and as a result, thousands of American jobs are now in doubt. This is simply inexcusable."
