Washington, D.C. - Today, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW), issued the following statement in response to the U.S. State Department's release of the final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Keystone XL pipeline permit application. EPW Committee staff is reviewing the EIS line by line.
Senator Boxer said: "I will not be satisfied with any analysis that does not accurately document what is really happening on the ground when it comes to the extraction, transport, refining, and waste disposal of dirty, filthy tar sands oil. My biggest concerns continue to be the serious health impacts on communities, and the dangerous carbon pollution that comes from tar sands oil."
