Inhofe: Kerry-Boxer Is A Massive Energy Tax

Incomplete Bill Can’t Hide the Facts: It Will Destroy Jobs, Raise Energy Costs

EPW REPUBLICANS CALL FOR A FAIR, OPEN PROCESS, URGE BOXER TO INTRODUCE COMPLETE BILL

What We Have Learned from EPW Global Warming Hearings

Cap-and-Tax Opposition Resource Center; Impacts of Costly Climate Bill Exposed

WASHINGTON, DC - Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, commented today on the energy tax introduced by Senators John Kerry (D-MA) and Barbara Boxer (D-CA), the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act.

“Despite an earnest attempt, including eight months of deliberation and negotiation to refashion the obvious, Senators Kerry and Boxer produced yet another massive energy tax that will destroy jobs, raise electricity and gasoline prices, and make America less competitive,” Senator Inhofe said.  “What’s more, this bill is even worse than the energy tax passed in the House.   The sponsors know this, so the bill is lacking in key details, an attempt, no doubt, to hide the central fact: this is an energy tax that will affect every American.

“While I’ve noted that the Democrats have the votes to pass this bill through the EPW Committee,  that does not mean Republicans will stand down.  We will expose this bill and its contents throughout every step of this process.  It will be our job to explain to the American people the brute facts of this bill, but also a better approach, one that promotes domestic energy supplies, new clean energy technologies, and greater energy security.”
