Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today made the following remarks in response to the US Environmental Protection Agency’s continuing failure to provide the Committee with documents on the denial of California’s request for a waiver to cut greenhouse gas pollution from motor vehicles.  In a letter to Chairman Boxer today, the EPA provided none of the documents requested, and gave no specific estimate as to when it would comply:

Senator Boxer said: “The Administrator’s continuing refusal to cooperate with the Committee’s oversight of the EPA is absolutely unacceptable.  What started off as foot-dragging is looking suspiciously like a cover-up.  What is Stephen Johnson trying to hide?  The Administrator will be appearing before the Committee on January 24.  If all of the documents are not forthcoming before that hearing, it will further demonstrate his contempt for Congress and the American people.”
