Senator Boxer’s Statement on California’s
Notice of Intent to Sue EPA for Delay of Clean Air Act Waiver

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works issued the following statement in response to the State of California’s notice of intent to sue the Environmental Protection Agency for unreasonable delays in approving the State’s request for a waiver under the Clean Air Act, which would allow the state to implement its landmark plan to regulate automobile emissions.

Senator Boxer said, “It is clear that Californians are unified when it comes to taking bold, swift action to reduce global warming pollution. It is long past time for the federal government to respond to the urgent call from the states to address the challenge of global warming.”
