Vitter: House Resources Report On Interior IG Warrants Attention
February 21, 2013

U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), the top Republican of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today said that the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee report on the Interior Department's Acting Inspector General Mary Kendall warrants attention.

"This report isn't something the administration should take lightly," Vitter said. "The Interior Department has literally cost Americans thousands of jobs by using tabloid science to advance their political agenda - and the office tasked with holding them accountable has been asleep at the wheel."

Vitter recently wrote an opinion column regarding an investigation he opened into Interior's Acting IG Mary Kendall's involvement with the drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico. Read here.

Vitter has also been critical of Interior and Kendall, whom he says has failed to investigate the allegations of scientific misconduct with the Interior's decision to shut down Drakes Bay Oyster Company in Point Reyes, California.
