Inhofe: Bipartisan Senate Highway Bill Back on Track

"With the latest motion defeated, we can now set aside the commotion of the past week and focus our attention on passing this bipartisan highway bill."

Washington, D.C. - Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, said that after the latest motion was defeated today, the Senate should focus its efforts on passing the highway bill as soon as possible.

"With the latest motion defeated, we can now set aside the commotion of the past week and focus our attention on passing this bipartisan highway bill," Senator Inhofe said. "We have already reached some important milestones in a bipartisan fashion and I'm confident that if we continue in this manner, we can get the job done.  I know that Senator Reid and Senator McConnell are working together on a path forward, and my good friend and Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee Senator Boxer and I are working hand in hand on this bill.  I urge my colleagues to follow our lead, put aside the distractions that have been causing delay, and focus in a bipartisan manner on finishing this bill as soon as possible.  The bottom line is that this highway bill is crucial for our economy and time is running out."
