PETA, a known animal rights organization, has been tied as a source of funding to both the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and the Earth Liberation Front (ELF), two domestic terrorist organizations. [http://epw.senate.gov/hearing_statements.cfm?id=247266 ]

These hearings ultimately lead to the introduction and passage (singed into law November 27, 2006) of the bipartisan Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA) [ http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressRoom.PressReleases&ContentRecord_id=86DE0E4D-CC1D-434D-B7CA-E630A7A8B678 ], P.L. 109374. AETA was co-sponsored in the Senate by Senators Inhofe and Feinstein, and was drafted with technical assistance from counter-terror experts at the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
