PETA, a known animal rights organization, has been tied as a source of funding to both the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and the Earth Liberation Front (ELF), two domestic terrorist organizations. [http://epw.senate.gov/hearing_statements.cfm?id=247266 ]
Senator Inhofe held two hearings pertaining to both animal and environmental terrorism.

These hearings ultimately lead to the introduction and passage (singed into law November 27, 2006) of the bipartisan Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA) [ http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressRoom.PressReleases&ContentRecord_id=86DE0E4D-CC1D-434D-B7CA-E630A7A8B678 ], P.L. 109374. AETA was co-sponsored in the Senate by Senators Inhofe and Feinstein, and was drafted with technical assistance from counter-terror experts at the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
