PETA Trial Begins on Animal Cruelty Offenses

Two PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) employees in Hertford County, NC will stand trial for 21 counts of animal cruelty, littering and obtaining property by false pretenses.  The PETA employees were caught dumping garbage bags full of euthanized cats and dogs into dumpsters behind a grocery store.

PETA, a known animal rights organization, has been tied as a source of funding to both the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and the Earth Liberation Front (ELF), two domestic terrorist organizations. [http://epw.senate.gov/hearing_statements.cfm?id=247266 ]   

 

Senator Inhofe held two hearings pertaining to both animal and environmental terrorism.

 These hearings ultimately lead to the introduction and passage (singed into law November 27, 2006) of the bipartisan Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA) [ http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressRoom.PressReleases&ContentRecord_id=86DE0E4D-CC1D-434D-B7CA-E630A7A8B678 ], P.L. 109374.
