Across the country, there is a great need to improve our roads and bridges. For many decades our interstate system has proved to be invaluable for the transportation of people and goods. The passage of TEA-21 in 1997 represented a renewed commitment by the federal government to make sure America's infrastructure remains strong. Many more improvements are needed and so I am committed to increasing highway funding to meet our transportation needs.
